England Athletics Mountain Running Championships

Joe Steward and Tom McGuinness took part in the England Mountain Running Championships on the 4th June in Keswick. This race was up-hill only and incorporated the trials for the European Mountain Championships to represent GB & NI, which will be held in Kamnik, Slovenia on July 8th.

Both had great runs, with Joe finishing 6th and Tom 11th overall. The eventual winner was Scottish athlete Andrew Douglas which actually pushed Joe and Tom up a place in the English standings. Joe was the first under 23 athlete home after a tight battle with Max Nicholls from Tonbridge just pipping him to the post by 5 seconds. Tom finished in a brilliant 3rd in the under 23 category.

Both wait to here on selection for the Europeans.
