Tour of Tameside 2018

The Tour of Tameside took place last weekend with many ECH athletes taking part. The full tour consists of 4 races in 4 days, starting with a 10k trail race finishing in Daisy Nook on the Thursday evening, a 6 mile fell race over Hobson moor and finishing next to Active Copley on the Friday evening, a half marathon Saturday morning on Longendale trail and finally a 7 mile road race in Hyde on the Sunday morning finishing outside Hyde Town Hall. Athletes can also decide to enter individual races if they wish.

Well done to those ECH athletes who completed the full tour described as the ‘Ultimate Running Challenge’, a fantastic achievement. Joe Hudak had a fantastic weekend of racing taking a brilliant 3rd place overall with an overall time of 3.11.00 with two 3rd place finishers in the first two races. Gavin Browne finished a creditable 5th place overall with 3.22.10 with a fine 4th place in the ‘hell on the fell’ race. Robin Horner a relatively new member of the club finished in a solid 11th place overall with 3.28.13. Joe, Gavin and Robin made up the men’s team which won the team event overall, a brilliant achievement, well done! Dennis Thomas performed well finishing 25th overall with 3.40.20. Thomas Clarke finished 121st overall with a time of 4.24.44 and finally Stephanie Boyle came home in 319th overall with 5.43.55 and coming 18th in her female 45 age category.

A few good performances came in the individual races with Hailemariam Kassa finishing 4th in the X Trail 10K race with 36.25, Hayley Simpson 4th female in the 6 mile fell race with 45.52 and 7th female with 47.36 in the Hyde 7 mile race.
