North West Counties Road Relays

The North West Counties Road Relays took place on Saturday 11th September at Birchwood Industrial Estate. It was a great day, lots of teams entered particularly in the junior races, good conditions and an amazing atmosphere due to competing as part of a team.

The under 11 boys & girls race was first to go off with 3 athletes in a team running a distance of 1.4km each. Our girls A team which consisted of Molly Holness (5.58), Imogen McBurnie (6.32) and Olivia Jones (6.44) finished a brilliant 6th overall and 3rd in Greater Manchester (GM) picking up Bronze medals. Our boys A team finished 12th overall and a fantastic 2nd place in GM taking home Silver medals; Oliver Manion (6.08), Charlie Bresnahan (8.39) and Ethan Walker (6.56). The under 13 girls A and B teams had a great battle with just 9 seconds between them finishing 6th and 7th in GM respectively over the 2.9km distance. The under 13 boys finished a creditable 4th in GM with Alfie Manser (10.44), Elliot Singleton (13.20) and Marshall Fleet (11.31) all running well over the same distance. The under 15 girls also raced over 2.9km, with the A team performing well to finish in 6th place in GM with Alice Cunningham (12.05), Erin Lord (12.41) and Emily Bowker (11.05). The under 17 women’s team did brilliantly to finish 3rd in GM with Aliesha Smith (11.46), Imogen Gush (12.23) and Emilia Platt (10.15) all running well and taking home Bronze medals.

Finally, the senior men’s team consisting of 4 runners competing 5.8km each worked hard to battle to 11th overall and 2nd in GM taking home Silver medals. Well done to Joe Hudak (18.45), Gavin Browne (19.09), Liam Browne (19.45) and Tom McGuinness (20.43) pictured below with team manager Gary Matthews.
