The London Marathon 2017 took place today with 5 East Cheshire representatives taking part in what were very good conditions, but getting warmer as the day went on.

First to complete the 26.2 mile distance for ECH was overseas athlete Lee Grantham with a terrific new personal best time of 2.21.43 to finish in an amazing 11th place. Lee ran negative splits with his 2nd half of the race being 1 minute 5 seconds quicker than the first half! Next back was Kieth Usher in a brilliant 3.08.21 finshing in 2822nd overall. Dennis Thomas was next home, who some of you might have seen on TV at the start running an impressive 3.10.30 in his debut marathon finishing 3090th overall. James Fairfield completed yet another marathon in a solid time of 3.49.00 in 10242nd place overall. Pamela Read was our only female representative and ran a strong time of 3.53.04 in 11235th place overall.

Keenan Owen took part in the mini-london marathon over the last few miles of the full marathon course. Keenan had a great run to finish 19th overall in the under 17 men’s race with a time of 14.49 and 2nd counter from the North West of England.
