Greater Manchester Track & Field Championships 2021

The Greater Manchester Schools Track & Field Championships took place on Saturday 12th June at Trafford AC. There were some fantastic performances on the day from ECH athletes representing their County.

A highlight came in the Inter Girls 200m race where Lily Murphy ran magnificently to win the race in 25.00 and gained a National schools standard time gaining automatic selection to next month’s English Schools Championships. Lily also broke the under 17 women’s 200m ECH club record which has stood for over 37 years! Katie Grafton finished a brilliant 3rd place in the same race with a time of 26.88.

Megan Lewis also won Gold and retained her 1500m steeplechase title in the Senior Girls race with a time of 5.42. Another Gold medal came in the Junior Boys 800m with Ethan Sykes running a great time of 2.15 (pictured dipping for the line!)

Joe Harney clinched a silver medal in the Junior Boys Javelin throwing 25.09.Emilia Platt finished a solid 3rd place in the Inter Girls 1500m with a time of 4.52. Sam Rowell also won a Bronze medal in the Inter Boys Javelin with a distance of 35.28 as did Amy Starkey in the Junior Girls Javelin with 24.72.
