Black Knight Charge 2017

East Cheshire hosted the Black Knight Charge 6 mile multi-terrain race and junior 2 mile race around Daisy Nook on Wednesday 19th July.

There were 160 finishers in the senior race and plenty of ECH athletes competing. Zak Miller from Trafford AC was was the eventual winner with a time of 34.52, closely followed by ex-East Cheshire athlete Gareth Raven in 35.20. East Cheshire’s Mussie Kassa ran a great race for a 17 year-old to finish a fantastic 3rd with 35.53. East Cheshire took the men’s team event with Mussie Kassa, Joe Hudak, Barry Hirst and George Lewis all finishing in the top 10.

In the women’s race Vicky Wright from Hyde Village Striders was the eventual winner in 40.27. Emma Linney took second place from Sale Harriers with a time of 45.28. Jennifer Dixon form Middleton Harriers took 3rd in 45.50. Wesham Road Runners took the team event for the women.

In the junior 2 mile race Trafford AC took a clean sweep with Lynog Williams 1st, Joe Mangan 2nd and Seb Patrick 3rd. In the girls race it was a clean sweep for East Cheshire with Megan Lewis 1st, Matilda Byrne 2nd and Madeline Stout 3rd.

A big thank you to all the helpers and marshals on the night for volunteering their time to make it such a great event, without you it wouldn’t happen!
