Inter Counties Cross Country Championships 2022

The inter Counties Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday 12th March at Prestwold Hall in Loughborough. A massive well done to the 6 ECH athletes who competed on the day who were selected to represent their County Greater Manchester. Conditions were good and quite a pleasant day, just a few stretches of sticky mud to negotiate.

Michael Obi was first to tackle the course in the first race of the day in the Under 20 mens category over 8km. Michael finished a creditable 156th place with a time of 35.24, with the GM team finishing in 9th place. The under 17 women were next and Emilia Platt again impressed finishing a fantastic 10th place and 1st GM counter in a time of 20.52 over the 5km distance. ECH teammate Aliesha Smith had another strong run to finish 194th in 25.15 with the team placing 11th overall.

Alfie Manser went next in the under 13 boys race over 3km and worked hard to finish 195th place in 13.39. The GM team finished a brilliant 3rd place overall. In the final race of the day Joe Hudak and Gavin Browne went in the senior men’s race over 10km. Joe finished 2nd GM counter and 100th overall in 36.51 with Gavin coming home in a respectable 148th position and 5th GM counter in 37.59 out of 289 finishers. The GM team finished 18th out of 34 teams.
